Dan LeMaster, Jr. Obituary

Dan LeMaster, Jr. of West Liberty, KY, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the West Liberty Nursing & Rehab Center, West Liberty, KY, at the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 25 days.  He was born Thursday, April 18, 1929 at Matthew, KY, son of the late Dan Sr. & Ida Smith LeMaster.

He was united in marriage to Loretta Joyce Lewis.  This union was blessed with two children, Athena Jan and William Dan.  He was a retired Sergeant First Class for US Army, serving his country for 21 years and serving during both the Korean & Vietnam Wars.  He was a decorated soldier, receiving many medals and badges including the Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge.  After returning home from the Army, he worked as an electrician for Morgan County ARH for 16 years until his retirement.  He was a Christian and a former Assistant Pastor of the Lacy Creek Baptist Church.  He was also a member of the Elkfork Masonic Lodge #755 where he received his 50 year membership pin in 2019.  Dan will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather.  He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.      

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce LeMaster; his step mother, Mary Susan LeMaster;  nine brothers, Howard, Woodrow, Don “Buster”, E.G., James Paul, Bobby, Ruby, Doug, and Walter LeMaster; one sister, Inez LeMaster Nelson; one step brother, James Conley; and two step sisters, Aura Mae Johnson and Anna Pearl Johnson.

Dan is survived by one daughter & son-in-law, Athena Jan & Thomas Blackburn of Lacy Creek, KY; one son & daughter-in-law, William Dan & Leah Shea LeMaster of West Liberty, KY; two grandsons, Nicholas Reo Blackburn and Cameron Andrew Bush both of West Liberty, KY; and a host of nieces and nephews, great & great-great nieces and nephews.  

Funeral service 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2020 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Tim Jenkins officiating.  Burial to follow in the Dawson Cemetery, Lacy Creek, KY, with Morgan County DAV Chapter 132 conducting Military Services.  Visitation 6:00 p.m., Thursday, October 15, 2020 at the Potter Funeral Home, Masonic Services at 7:00 p.m., by Elkfork Masonic Lodge #755. 

COVID-19 regulations will be followed.

Pallbearers:  William Dan LeMaster, Thomas Blackburn, Nicholas Reo Blackburn, Cameron Andrew Bush, Sherrill Wayne Lewis, Benny Shepherd, Tanner Mabry, Jason Young, Daryl LeMaster, David LeMaster, and Gerry Windhorst.
