Christine McClurg Obituary

Christine Sexton McClurg of West Liberty, KY, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2020 at her residence, at the age of 96 years and 11 days. She was born Saturday, April 5, 1924 at West Liberty, KY, daughter of the late Henry & Lillie Perry Sexton.

Christine was united in marriage to Arnold McClurg. This union was blessed with seven children, Larson, Vivian, Charlotte, Raymond, Lynn B., Billy Ray, and Robert Michael. She was a homemaker, devoting her life to care for her family and her home. She was a Christian and a member of the Lick Fork Pentecostal Church. Christine was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold McClurg; one daughter, Vivian Ison; and four brothers, Ulysses Sexton, Wilber Sexton, Abraham Sexton, and James Sexton; and two sisters, Betty Callahan and Wilma Clevenger.

She is survived by six children, Larson & Ima Jean McClurg, Charlotte & Tommy Walter, Raymond McClurg, Lynn B. & Tammy McClurg, Billy Ray & Cora McClurg, and Robert Michael & Shelley McClurg; ten grandchildren, Karen Benton, Danny McClurg, Rodney Ison, Lisa Cover, Lareta Comer, Mark Ison, Barry Lewis, Shandra Elam, Jody McClurg, and Justin McClurg; a host of great & great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Johnny Sexton & Ishmael Sexton; three sisters, Helen Lewis, Margaret Sargent, and Rosetta Hunt; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Due to the COVID-19 requirements set forth by Governor Andy Beshear, a private graveside service for the immediate family, will be held Saturday, April 18, 2020 at the McClurg Cemetery, West Liberty, KY.
