Carrie Dessie Prater

Carrie Dessie Banks Prater of Ezel, KY, passed away Friday, June 12, 2020 at the home of her daughter, at the age of 86 years, 1 month, and 29 days.  She was born Saturday April 14, 1934 at Calaboose, KY, daughter of the late Melvin Richardson and Maggie Jane Perry Banks. 

Carrie was united in marriage to Murph Prater. She was a faithful member of Ezel First Church of God for over forty years, and worked as cook in the Ezel School for 54 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister and will be missed greatly by her family, church family and all her many friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in by her husband, Murph Prater, daughter, Phyllis Diane Bush , five sisters and brothers, Pearlie Banks, George Banks, Bessie Banks, R.C. Banks, Geneva Burton, and brother-in-law, Hubert Birchwell.

She is survived by three children, James Michael Williams, Ezel, KY, Rachael and Stephen Burchett, Frenchburg, KY., Cassie Vance, West Liberty, KY; Seven grandchildren, Kerribeth Burchett, Weslee Burchett, Hunter Vance, Barrett Vance, Maria Williams, Christian Williams, James Williams, one great grandchild, Maci Krallman, one sister, Margie Birchwell, sister-in-law, Sue Banks, and brother-in-law, Billy Burton.

Funeral Service 11:00 A.M. Monday at Ezel First Church of God with Rev. Harry Flannery officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ezel Cemetery, Ezel, KY.  Visitation 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM Sunday at the church. COVID'19 Regulations will be followed.
