Billy Ray Lewis

Billy Ray Lewis of West Liberty, KY, passed away Monday, October 5, 2020 at his residence, at the age of 81 years, 6 months, and 7 days.  He was born Tuesday, March 28, 1939 at Blaze, KY, son of the late Wavelin & Ethel Marie Blankenship Lewis.

Billy was united in marriage to Janice Goodpaster on July 12, 1958.  This union was blessed with three sons and one daughter, Greg, Brian, Lisa, and Chris.  Billy was a retired carpenter and farmer.  He was an avid craftsman with woodworking, enjoying making swings, birdfeeders, birdhouses, chairs, benches, and chests.   Billy was a Christian and attended the Blaze Community Church.  He loved and enjoyed being around his family, and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.  He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.      

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers & two sisters, Frederick & Jeanette Lewis, Jackie Lewis, Betty & Winston Lewis, and Roberta & Kenny Nipper; two brothers-in-law, Tom Flatford & Ronald McKenzie; and one step grandson, Zachary Bryce Ogden.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Janice Goodpaster Lewis; his four children, Greg & Dawn Lewis of Springfield, OH, Brian & Mellissa Lewis, Lisa & Timmy Patrick, and Chris & Erica Lewis all of West Liberty, KY; six grandchildren, Jacob Patrick, Cameron Patrick, Brianna Lewis, Alyssa Lewis, Annie Lewis, and Tyler Lewis; two sisters, Louraine Flatford & Bonnie McKenzie Pelfrey & Darrell; and two brothers, Jay B. & Wanda Lewis & Rex & Donna Lewis; one sister-in-law, Sue Lewis; and a host of nieces and nephews.  

Funeral service 1 p.m., Friday, October 9, 2020 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Phillip Ferguson and Bro. Vernon Lewis officiating.  Burial to follow in the W.H. Lewis Cemetery, Hwy 3036, Blaze, KY.  Visitation 6 p.m., Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the Potter Funeral Home. 

COVID-19 regulations will be followed.
