Betty (Vance) Lacy Wells of Lexington, KY, formerly of West Liberty, KY, passed away May
18, 2024, at her home in Lexington, KY, at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 26 days.
She was born Tuesday, September 22, 1931, daughter of the late Lee Roy and Tela (Bailey)
Vance.
Betty was united in marriage to her husband Rexford Lacy, and this union was blessed with
one son, Michael Rex Lacy and one daughter, Joan Elaine Lacy Jinks. After the death of
her husband Rex, she was later married to her second husband, Wilson Langford Wells.
She worked hard all her life and, after both her children were in school, she started her first
job as a clerk in Martins Dept Store in West Liberty. Later, as a Secretary at Morgan County
ARH, she decided to attend Midway College where she received her RN degree. She
worked as a cardiac nurse at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Ky until being hired as
the Administrator of Homestead Nursing Home, also in Lexington.
Betty was a devoted Christian and loved her family. She will be remembered as a caring
wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, stepmother, and friend to all that knew her.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Tela Vance; both her husbands, Rex
Lacy and Wilson Wells; brothers, Edward R Vance and Jimmy Lee Vance; and a sister,
Mildred Kirk.
She is survived by sisters Vivian House of South Carolina and Jean Nickell of Ohio; a son
Michael Lacy (wife Terry) of West Liberty, KY; daughter Joan Jinks (husband Gerhard) of
Lexington, KY; one grandson, Christopher Lacy (wife Charla) of West Liberty, KY;
granddaughters Miranda Farmer of Morehead, KY and Lacy Jinks of Lexington, KY; a great
granddaughter, Morgan Farmer; great grandsons Conner Farmer and Camden Lacy;
stepsons Tommy Wells (wife Barbara) and Stephen Wells (wife Denise); stepdaughter, Mary
Gorman; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Rexford Lacy
Cemetery at White Oak, KY with Reverend Mike Lindon officiating. Burial will follow.
Pallbearers: Chris Lacy, Miranda Farmer, Lacy Jinks, Morgan Farmer, Conner Farmer,
Camden Lacy, Jeremy Farmer, Gerhard Jinks, and Jim Adams.
Potter Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
