Bernie Wayne Whitt of Morehead, KY, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at his residence, at the age of 74 years, 8 months and 18 days. He was born on Sunday, August 1, 1948 at West Liberty, KY, son of the late Bernie E. “Bun” Whitt & Viola Frisby Whitt.
He was united in marriage to Pam Engle Whitt. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving his country during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, among other medals. He was a Christian and was a member of the Wrigley Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, step father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Jo Whitt; one sister, Joyce Eldridge; and four nephews, Jeff Evans, Jason Gray, Kenneth Holbrook and Billy Joe Eldridge.
Survivors include his loving wife, Pam Engle Whitt; step daughter, Cindy Hammond (Craig) of Menifee Co., KY; 2 grandchildren, Pamela Shay Hammond Banks (D.J.) & Jenna Michelle Hammond; three great grandchildren, Hazel Banks, Olivia Banks, and Thea Banks; and 13 brothers and sisters, Bonnie Yeary, Totsy Evans, Roxie Johnston (Ronnie), Darlene Winstead (James), Sarah Lovel Woolums, Connie Patton (Bob), Sharon Holbrook, Beverly Little (Larry), Deborah Gray (Gary), Shamel Whitt (Betsy), Dottie Johnston (John), David Whitt, and Jennifer Young; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Garry Ferguson & Bro. Jonathan Sargent officiating. Burial to follow in the A.L. Whitt Cemetery, Redwine Road, West Liberty, KY, with Morgan County DAV to conduct military rites. Visitation 6 p.m., Monday, April 24, 2023 at the Potter Funeral Home.
