Ben Herbert Brooks

Ben Herbert Brooks of West Liberty, KY, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, at St. Claire Medical Center, Morehead, KY, at the age of 87 years, 9 months, & 21 days.  He was born Wednesday, April 8, 1936 at West Liberty, KY, son of Henry & Ida Patrick Brooks.

Ben was united in marriage to Jeanetta Smith.  This union was blessed with one son, Kevin.  He was a retired truck driver a U.S. Army Veteran, serving his country from 1959 – 1961.  He was a Christian and a member of the Bethany Enterprise Baptist Church.  He was a loving father, grandfather and brother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Ida Brooks; his wife, Jeanetta Brooks; two brothers, Tommy Brooks & Lonnie “Tiny” Brooks; three sisters, Nora Cottle, Faye Hall, and Bernice Fugate; and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, H.B. Cottle, Ranz Fugate, and Lizzie Brooks.

He is survived by his son Kevin Brooks (Robin) of West Liberty, KY; two grandchildren, Bo Brooks (Mckenzie) of West Liberty, KY and Kayla Cagle of Morehead, KY; two brothers, James Brooks (Phyllis) of West Liberty, KY and Lee “Bear” Brooks of Salyersville, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service 1 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Potter Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Pelfrey officiating.  Burial to follow in the Brooks Family Cemetery, Jones Creek Road, West Liberty,  KY, with the Morgan County DAV conducting military rites.  Visitation from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the funeral home.

Memorial donations are suggested by the family to Bethany Enterprise Baptist Church.
