Anneda M. McKenzie

Anneda M. McKenzie of Sandy Hook, KY, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead, KY, at the age of 87 years, 4 months, & 9 days.  She was born Sunday, April 25, 1937 at Frenchburg, KY, daughter of Alonzo & Minnie Peyton Bowlin.

She was united in marriage to Gaynes Cole McKenzie, Jr.  This union was blessed with four sons, Rusty, Dusty, Jeffrey, & Nicholas.  She was a retired tutor & library worker.  She was a Christian & member of the Lost Point Lake Pentecostal Church.  She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo & Minnie Peyton Bowlin; her husband, Gaynes Cole McKenzie, Jr.; infant son, Rusty McKenzie; one sister, Lillian Olene Fugate; and three brothers, Eugene Bowlin, Ophrey Bowlin, and Rodney Bowlin.

She is survived by three sons, Dusty McKenzie (Jennifer) of Ashland, KY, Jeffrey McKenzie (Melinda) of Olive Hill, KY, and Nicholas McKenzie of West Liberty, KY; ten grandchildren, Nicholas McKenzie, Haley Seagraves, Micah McKenzie, Jasper McKenzie, Jonah McKenzie, Dustin McKenzie, Ashley Nicole McKenzie, Joshua Scott McKenzie, Tiffany McKenzie, and Dale McKenzie; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service 2 p.m., Friday, September 6, 2024 at the Johnston Cemetery, Hwy 1950, Frenchburg, KY.  Visitation from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Friday, September 6, 2024 at the Potter Funeral Home.
