Anna Lou Mays

Anna Lou Mays of Elkfork, KY, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the Riverview Health Care Center, Prestonsburg, KY, at the age of 73 years, 7 months, and 7 days. She was born on Monday, January 9, 1950, daughter of the late Leonard & Lois Bayes Adkins.

Anna was a homemaker, devoting her life to care for her family and home.  She was a Christian and a member the Straight Creek Enterprise Baptist Church.  She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt.  She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends, and all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; and two brothers, Harold Adkins and Denzil Adkins. 

Survivors include her two sons, Jammie Gillespie (Stephanie) of Flat Gap, KY and Darren Gillespie (Deatra) of Staffordsville, KY; three grandchildren, Leanna Dawn Gillespie, Braylen Lane Gillespie, and Kylen Quinn Gillespie; two great grandchildren; three brothers, Darrell Adkins (Haley) of Fairborn, OH, Wendell Adkins (Sharon) of Fairborn, OH, and Leonard Ray Adkins (Marsha) of Straight Creek, KY; two sisters, Sharon Cottle of West Liberty, KY, and Edna Mae Tyree (Tim) of Straight Creek, KY;  and a host of nieces & nephews.

Funeral Service, 1 p.m., Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Rev. Denvil Mollette officiating.  Burial to follow in the West Liberty Memorial Gardens.  Visitation 6 p.m., Friday, August 18, 2023 at the funeral home.
