Angela Trusty Griggs of Lexington, KY, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at her residence, at the age of 55 years, 3 months, & 2 days. She was born Monday, October 20, 1969 at Lexington, KY, daughter of Alvis Earl & Shari Henry Trusty.
A 1987 graduate of Morgan County High School, Angie made her mark on the Tennis Court with her teammates that would help lay the foundation of one of the region’s strongest girls tennis programs and noted for becoming the first female tennis player to win a regional match for Morgan County High School.
Her legacy went beyond the tennis court as she would graduate from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Speech Language Pathology. She would return to her home school district and gave 28 years of educational services to Morgan County and positively impacting hundreds of Morgan County students.
Angie was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Theodore A. Griggs; her paternal grandparents, Elmer & Trixie Trusty; and maternal grandparents, Jim & Myrtle Henry.
She is survived by her husband, Matthew Lane Griggs; her parents, Alvis & Shari Henry Trusty of West Liberty; two children, Spencer Lane Griggs of Lexington and Delaney Faith Griggs of Morehead; one brother, Christopher & Kristi Trusty of West Liberty; one niece & nephew, Kennedy Trusty (Matt) & Parker Trusty; her mother-in-law, Betty C. Griggs of Georgetown; one brother-in-law, John Griggs (Kathy) of Tampa, FL; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Angie’s radiating smile and vibrant joy of life motivated so many of her family and friends to mirror her positive qualities.
Funeral service, 1 p.m., Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Potter Funeral Home, with Rev. Allan Hutchinson officiating. Burial to follow in the Ezel Cemetery, Ezel, KY. Visitation 6 – 9 p.m., Saturday January 25, 2025 at Potter Funeral Home.
Pallbearers: Parker Trusty, Grayson Hampton, Spencer Griggs, Conner McKenzie, Patrick McKenzie, Stephen McKenzie, Kyler Ball, and Tim Ball.
