Alpha (Stevens) Clevenger

Alpha Stevens Clevenger of West Liberty, KY, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Wolfe County Heath Care Center, Campton, KY, at the age of 93 years, 10 months, and 4 days.  She was born Monday, March 28, 1932, at Sandy Hook, KY, daughter of Isaac & Cynthia Hamilton Stevens.

Alpha was united in marriage to Hassan Clevenger.  This union was blessed with four children, Gerald Dennis, Barry Travis, Earl Dempsey, and Joy LaVonne. She was a homemaker, devoting her life to care for her family.  She was a Christian and was a member and formerly attended Glenn Ave Church of God and Lick Fork Pentecostal Church for several years while her health permitted.                

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac & Cynthia Stevens; her husband, Hassan Clevenger; two sons, Gerald Dennis Clevenger & Barry Travis Clevenger; one grandson, Travis Grant Clevenger; and eleven siblings.

Alpha is survived by two children, Earl Dempsey Clevenger (Rosie) of West Liberty, KY and Joy LaVonne Gevedon (Dale) of Ezel, KY; six grandchildren, Nathan Roberts, Sarah Clevenger, Laura Smith (Wayne), Katie Clevenger, Jade Gevedon, and Jared Gevedon; four great grandchildren, Julia Collinsworth, William Collinsworth, Greer Smith, and Maisie Smith; three great-great grandchildren, Jaycee Gevedon, River Gevedon, and Lilly Gevedon; and one brother, Junior Dale Stevens of Sandy Hook, KY.

Alpha will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services 1 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Jonathan Sargent officiating.  Burial to follow in the Click Cemetery, Sandy Hook, KY.  Visitation from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the funeral home.
