Alexander "Alex" Lee Spencer

Alexander “Alex” Spencer of West Liberty, KY, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022 at his residence, at the age of 32 years, 3 months, 16 days.  He was born Saturday, September 23, 1989, at Lexington, KY, son of Vaughn & Barbara Risner Spencer.

He was united in marriage to Brittany Nicole Sexton. This union was blessed with two sons, Zander & Kendall.  Alex was Deputy Sheriff Unit SO-04 with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department where he joined the department in March of 2021.  He was currently attending the Department of Criminal Justice Training Class 523, where he excelled in his class and was set to graduate on February 3, 2022.

He was also an avid participant in Karate where he was soon to be testing for his Black Belt, a determined weightlifter, and loved heavy metal.  He was a cherished member of the August Burns Red fan community and he was a genuinely nice guy who loved his family and friends and treated everyone with decency and respect.      

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle.  He will be missed by all of his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Wilson & Juanita Burnett Risner and his paternal grandparents, Stanley & Vivian Vance Spencer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brittany Nicole Spencer; his two sons, whom he adored, Zander Spencer & Kendall Spencer; his loving parents, Vaughn & Barbara Spencer of West Liberty, KY; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Lyss & Anna Sexton of West Liberty, KY; his brothers & sisters, Shavonna Kay Rose of West Liberty, KY, Vaughn Spencer, Jr., Derrick Spencer, Kelly Stewart all of Ohio, and Christina Hernandez of Morehead, KY; one brother-in-law, Matthew Sexton of West Liberty, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.    

Funeral Service 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Index Community Church, with Bro. Mike Frisby officiating.  Burial to follow in the McClurg Cemetery, Hwy 1002, West Liberty, KY.  Visitation from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Index Community Church. 

Potter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
