Ruth K. DeVore

Ruth K. DeVore, 79, of Marengo, OH, formerly of West Liberty, KY, passed away Monday, May 1, 2006, at her residence. She was born September 23, 1926 in West Liberty, KY, a daughter of the late Math and Etta Mae Lewis. Ruth moved to Ohio from Kentucky in 1981. She was a homemaker and a pastor's wife, involved with various church activities of her husband's Church of God assignments. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by two sisters, Mae Mills and Goldie Claypool and one brother, Russell Lewis. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Evangelist Joseph E. DeVore; one son, Joseph D. DeVore of Winchester, KY; one grandson, Russell DeVore of New Vienna, OH; two adopted daughters, Edie and Tim Stambaugh of Cardington, OH and Patty and Bud Porter of Marengo, OH; one brother, Millard and Helen Lewis of West Liberty, KY; and five sisters, Alice Faye Watkins, Thelma and James McGuire, Genetta and James Sexton, Ramona Gay and Roy Junior Fairchild all of West Liberty, KY, and Grace Yenzer of Harveysburg, OH; and one sister-in-law, Wilma Lewis of West Liberty, KY. Visitation: 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 5, 2006, at the Potter Funeral Home. Graveside service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2006, at the Lewis and Howard Cemetery, West Liberty, KY, with Rev. Gary Fields and Rev. Eugene Haney officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Church of God, Bus Ministry, C/O P.O. Box 238, Sunbury, OH 43074. Pallbearers: Clayborn Lewis, Curren Lewis, Glenn Lewis, Roger Fairchild, Matthew Watkins, Waylin Fairchild, and Willard Lewis. Honorary Pallbearers: Joseph D. DeVore and Tim Stambaugh.
