Oleta Mae (McKenzie) Collins

Oleta Mae Collins of West Liberty, KY, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019 at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, KY, at the age of 85 years, 6 months, and 26 days. She was born Thursday, May 10, 1934 at Licking River, KY, daughter of the late Victor Clay & Anna Florence Wells McKenzie.

She was united in marriage to Roger Braxton Collins. This union was blessed with three sons, Larry Clay, Roger Scott, and Victor Kevin. Oleta was a retired Clerical Secretary for Collins & May Mining Company for 21 years and was also a school teacher, where she taught the 6th grade for one year. She was a Christian and was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church and was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and great aunt, and will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Braxton Collins; one son, Larry Clay Collins; one brother, Ronald McKenzie; and one sister, Aihleen Peyton.

Oleta is survived by two sons & daughters-in-law, Roger Scott & Leshia Collins and Victor Kevin & Kristi Collins all of West Liberty, KY; five grandsons, Larry Braxton Collins & Amanda of Morehead, KY, Roger Scott Collins, II & Stephanie of Richmond, KY, Alexander Ryan Collins & Kirstie of Scott Depot, WV, Larrin Andrew Collins of Charleston, SC, and Hunter Clay Collins of West Liberty, KY; seven great grandchildren, Jayla, Jarrett, Connor, Lyla, Tanner, Emmalyn, & Kaytie; one brother, Don McKenzie of West Liberty, KY; three sisters-in-law, Bonnie McKenzie, Edith McKenzie, and Delma Adelizzi; special nieces and nephews, Beverly Dianne Endicott & Ken, Robin McKenzie May, Donna Sue McKenzie Perry & Jackie, Terrie Lynn Harper, and Shawn McKenzie and many other beloved family members.

Funeral service 11 a.m., Monday, December 9, 2019 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Rev. Jamie Brunk & Elder Jimmy Adkins officiating. Burial to follow in the Collins Cemetery, Blaze, KY. Visitation 6 p.m., Sunday, December 8, 2019 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers: Her Grandsons & Nephews, Braxton Collins, Chip Collins, Alex Collins, Larrin Collins, Hunter Collins, Justin Endicott, Shawn McKenzie, Josh Perry, and Logan May.
