Mabel Christine Amyx of West Liberty, KY, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Morgan County ARH, West Liberty, KY, at the age of 83 years, 4 months, and 8 days. She was born on Saturday, January 13, 1923 at Elkfork, KY, a daughter born to the late Clay and Etta Dennis McKenzie. Mabel was united in marriage to Jerald Amyx. To this union, a daughter was born, Joan Irene Amyx. Mabel was a graduate of Morehead State University. She was an elementary school teacher for 34 years. She was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters, Victor McKenzie, Gladys Blair, Carl McKenzie, Kathleen Franklin, Opal Howard, Clyde McKenzie, and Thelma Wells. She is survived by her husband, Jerald Amyx; her daughter, Joan Irene Amyx of Lexington, KY; one sister, Stella McKenzie Coffey of Lexington, KY; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends. Funeral service 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at the Potter Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Garry Jones, Bro. Mark Walter, and Bro. George Murray Bellamy officiating. Burial in the Cox Cemetery, Kellacey Road, West Liberty, KY. Visitation 6:00 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2006, at the Potter Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Howard Elam, Hank Allen, Aaron Walter, Scott Whitaker, Kevin Collins, Scotty Collins, Mark Johnson, Roger Jarrells. Honorary Pallbearers: Nieces, Nephews, and Special Friends.
